Inspired by traditional Oaxacan culture and cuisine, Casa Del Toro is now open in Hell’s Kitchen. Hand-crafted cocktails are injected with fire beneath an oversized wooden guitar inspired by the tradition of the Mexican “Vihuela." Executive Chef Reagan Angelle is offering modern reinterpretations of Oaxacan-inspired dishes and tapas like Tlayuda (Frijoles Negro, Chicken Tinga, Shaved Cabbage, Argula, Avocado and Queso Oaxaca), Tinga de Pollo (Braised Adobo Chicken, Onion and Avocado), and Mole Negro (Shredded Chicken, Avocado and Queso Oaxaca). A signature dish is the Lengua Taco (Crispy Beef Tongue, Radish, Salsa Verde and Chicharron). The spacious restaurant features a cocktail bar up front and main dining room, the “Plaza Del Toro,” which features a six-foot Spanish Toro. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors separate the dining room from what might just be the restaurant’s best kept secret: a beautiful outdoor garden.
