Soft Serve Sundae at Hall

When the heat is on, New Yorkers know how to chill out. Here are some of our favorite ice cream spots.

To celebrate summer, Hall in Flatiron is out with original soft serve sundaes in various flavors. Ours came with a chunk of rich chocolate brownie, caramel, mochi and an alcohol spiked cookie on top with a dusting of green tea. Digging deeper we discovered crunchy nuts and cornflakes.


Soft Swerve on Lower East Side

Soft Swerve is a perennial favorite on Allen Street on the LES known for unique flavors like Ube/Black Sesame swirl with a slew of toppings ranging from colored sprinkles and Oreos to mochi and Fruity Pebbles.


Mister Dips at Seaport

Mister Dips, which now has a spot Pier 17 in the Seaport, is known for its dipped ice creams. Flavors include Berry Gibbs with strawberry, nilla wafer, and sweet cream, Chocolate P.B.D. with a salted peanut butter drip, and Summer Patriot with sweet cherry, bourbon vanilla and blue raspberry. Floats are also available.


Big Gay Ice Cream at Seaport

Big Gay Ice Cream also has a spot at the Seaport. Popular cones include The Salty Pimp injected with dulce de leche with a salted & dipped chocolate shell, and the Mermaid, an ice cream sundae inspired by Key Lime Pie.

Ample Hills in Gowanus

Ample Hills’s Scoop Shop on Union Street in Gowanus is a place to hit when the temperature turns steamy. New flavors include Summer of Love with buttercream frosting and Baked by Melissa’s tie-dye cupcakes, and I Want to Dance with Some Berry with blueberry ice cream, raspberry cheesecake swirl and funfetti.


Lady Moo Moo in Bed-Stuy

When in Bed-Stuy we can't resist at stop at Lady Moo Moo on Chauncey Street. Aside from ice cream they also have wonderful sorbets in flavors like yuzu lemon, passion fruit and blood orange.


Van Leeuwen Rockefeller Center

Van Leeuwen, with locations across the city, is known for its vegan varieties like Caramel Almond Praline Chip and Chocolate Oat Milk Cookie Dough Crunch. Non-vegan options are also plentiful.


16 Handles Times Square

16 Handles now has a spot in Times Square. Visitors can mix and match soft serve flavors and toppings to create an unlimited number of flavor combinations.

Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory now has a spacious location in a converted garage on Old Fulton Street in DUMBO where you can order your ice cream and sit outside at bright red tables. Here' you will find more traditional flavors like Peaches & Cream, Butter Pecan, Strawberry and Chocolate Chocolate Chunk.
