The Mermaid Oyster Bar is reeling ‘em in. The restaurant, on MacDougal Street, sits on a corner with outdoor seating on both sides as well as indoors. Seafood reigns supreme with six different types of oysters at any given time, raw bar and entrees like Fire Roasted Striped Bass, “Nearly Famous” Lobster Roll and a Grilled Hanger Steak for landlubbers. Sides include Lobster & Corn Fritters. 89 MacDougal St, New York, NY (212) 260-0100
Rasa will make you feel like you’ve been whisked away to Kuala Lumpur with its lush tropical greenery and friendly vibe. Siblings Tommy Lai and Camie Lai grew up there and are drawing upon their mother’s recipes. Chef Tommy Lai also ran the kitchen at Laut while it was awarded a Michelin star. Look for curry puffs, dumplings and fritters, several types of wok-fried noodles, and entrees like Massaman Curry. 25 West 8th St, New York, NY (212) 253-9888
Chef Joey Campanaro’s classic dishes continue to make The Little Owl a perennial hit. It could be the crispy calamari, eggplant parmigiana, soft shell crab sandwiches or petit filet mignon. Or, maybe it’s the cocktails, including a Watermelon Rose Spritzer and Pink Prosecco Lemonade, along with an extensive wine list with many sold by the glass or bottle. Just follow the line out the door! 90 Bedford St, New York, NY (212) 741-4695
