The highly successful stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” is set to resume performances on Broadway on Tuesday, October 5 at the Shubert Theatre. The production features a script by Aaron Sorkin, based on Lee’s landmark novel, and direction by Bartlett Sher.
Tony Award nominee Jeff Daniels will reprise his iconic role as local attorney Atticus Finch and Celia Keenan-Bolger returns in her Tony Award-winning performance as his daughter Scout. Remaining casting will be announced shortly.
Set in Alabama in 1934, the play focuses on the Finch family, which also includes Scout’s brother Jem, as well as their caretaker Calpurnia, their visiting friend Dill, and a mysterious neighbor, the reclusive Arthur “Boo” Radley. When Atticus defends an African-American man charged with a serious crime against a white woman, the family finds itself in the middle of a major controversy.
