Shukette in Chelsea is celebrating the foods of the Levant, countries along the eastern shores of the Mediterranean. Shukette is an offshoot of Shuka by partners Chef Ayesha Nurdjaja and The Bowery Group showcasing the region’s many cuisines with locally and sustainably sourced ingredients when possible.

Flavorful dips, salads and market-driven small plates such as fetatoush with chickpea flaxseed crackers and stuffed grape leaves arrive in quick procession from the open kitchen. Guests are encouraged to mop up their plates with warm pieces of house-baked breads such as lafa with za’atar or potato-stuffed gozleme. Larger plates, including Joojeh chicken and Fish in a Cage, capture the crackling energy of the charcoal grill. Playful cocktails by bar director Tim Harris are offered alongside a curated selection of wine and beer.

The brightly colored, 74-seat space by Guzy Architects is designed to encourage lively conversation in a friendly atmospher. Hanging light fixtures and cork walls accented with Mediterranean blue tile and pale saffron yellow trim accent the interior. Shukette’s extensive outdoor setup features ample sidewalk seating that traces the corner of Ninth Avenue and 24th Street as well as a covered structure.

Shukette is located at 230 9th Ave, New York, NY (212) 242-1803
