Puttanesca arrives in Chelsea
May 15, 2021, 10:52.58 am ET
Puttanesca, a Sicilian Trattoria, is now open in Chelsea. The restaurant is owned by veteran restaurateurs Bob and Enrico Malta who also owned other popular restaurants such as Bocca di Bacco, Intermezzo, Film Center Café, and the original Puttanesca in Hell’s Kitchen on 9th Avenue and 56th Street. Executive Chef David DiSalvo, a graduate from the French Culinary Institute, helms the kitchen and worked at such establishments as Blaue Gans, Wallse and most recently at STK NYC Downtown and Rooftop.
Chef DiSalvo’s menu includes dishes like Wagyu Beef Carpaccio finished with arugula, capers, olive oil, and fresh Parmigiano-Reggiano, Selezione di Formaggi, a display of salumi and cheeses served with house made focaccia, Fritto Misto, crispy calamari, langoustine, and zucchini with spicy marinara and citrus aioli, Gnocchi Toscani al Tartufo, pillowy potato gnocchi served in a cream sauce with Italian black truffles, Bistecca di Manzo, a 45-day dry-aged, certified angus beef bone-in ribeye, and Branzino Interno served with lemon, parsley, rosemary, and olive oil.
Puttanesca also features a well-appointed wine list of predominantly Italian regional wines, as well as selections from California and France. Seasonal cocktails include The Passionista with white rum, fresh lime juice and passionfruit, and The Cognati with Prosecco, aperol, and blood orange.
Puttanesca is located at 202 8th Ave, New York, NY (646) 692-4123 Website
