OH K-Dog is a favorite of Instagrammers on the Lower East Side
February 25, 2021, 12:21.47 am ET
There aren’t many things we’d wait on line for in the dead of winter, but Oh K-Dog on the Lower East Side is actually worth the wait. At times the line can stretch around the block. Here’s why.
While it’s a favorite of Instagrammers keen on taking a photo of its heavily sauced dogs, they actually taste great. The person behind the counter was sincerely friendly, and helped us sauce up our creations. And the price was amazingly cheap for what is undeniably an internet sensation. Try about five bucks apiece.
The Korean rice hot dogs, similar to a corn dog, come with a choice of classic, premium beef, cheddar, mozzarella and even squid ink. The dogs are then drizzled in a zigzag pattern with a variety of sauces, including mustard, ketchup and sweet chili and gochu sauce. The result is funky, yet delicious dog. The Mozza Potato Dog takes it one step further with chunks of potato protruding from the sides with molten mozzarella stretching from its center. It’s really delicious!
The restaurant also sells egg toast, similar in texture to a light French toast, filled with things like bacon & egg, ham & egg and teriyaki. The inside is slathered with mayo and topped with egg slices. There's also an OH K avocado toast. Be prepared to wait about 20 minutes or so for your order to be prepared. You won't be disappointed.
Oh K-Dog is located at 159 Ludlow St, New York, NY (646) 448-4836
