New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio is announcing new restrictions that apply to indoor activities. The Mayor says people will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccine for indoor dining, gyms and indoor performances starting August 16. The mayor says the new mandate will require at least one dose and applies to all workers and customers. New York is the first big city to announce such restrictions.
According to De Blasio, “If you're not vaccinated, there's going to be more and more things you can't do. We say that. I say that to say, go get vaccinated. So, you can fully participate in the life, the city, because that's where things are going.”
The impact on New York City businesses has yet to be determined. New York City’s homecoming concerts are still on for now. But the Mayor says, "Everything is on the table."
