Janine Harouni: Like Pete Davidson, this comic genius has roots in Staten Island, but she’s become a huge favorite among the Brits, even winning one of the most prestigious awards for her work at the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival. On September 1, she brings “Stand Up With Janine Harouni (Please Remain Seated” to the aptly-named comedy club Stand Up NY for a one-night engagement. www.standupny.com
Jay Armstrong Johnson: A true favorite among musical theater fans, Johnson will (mostly) ditch the show tunes for an evening of country favorites from his formative years in his new show at 54Below, “Jay’s Birthday Bash: There’s No Place Like Home,” which, believe it or not, takes place on his actual birthday, September 1. If you can’t make it person, this sure-to-be-fantastic show will be livestreamed as well. Yeehaw! www.54Below.com
Hadestown: Anais Mitchell’s Tony-winning musical adaptation of the story of Orpheus & Eurydice (played by Reeve Carney and Eva Nozlabeda) – the latter of whom is destined to spend eternity in Hell – makes a heavenly return to Broadway on September 2 at the Walter Kerr Theater. Don’t myth it! www.seatgeek.com
Waitress: The Great White Way’s favorite diner re-opens for business on September 2 with the musical’s composer-lyricist, the divine Sara Bareilles, once again taking on the title role of troubled pie maker Jenna. Talk about causing a stir on Broadway! www.telecharge.com
Steven Brinberg: In “On A Clear Day You Can See SIMPLY BARBRA Forever,” which plays The Green Room 42 at the Yotel Hotel on Thursday, September 2, the ultra-talented Brinberg will pay tribute to one of Streisand’s most beloved film roles, the kooky Daisy Gamble. Still, it’s a sure bet you’ll be entertained. https://thegreenroom42.venuetix.com
Eric Comstock: One of the cabaret world’s most beloved entertainers, Comstock begins a four-Saturday residency at Birdland on September 4, joined by bassist Sean Smith and Comstock’s equally talented wife, singer Barbara Fasano. It may be Labor Day weekend, but you just have to sit back and let these three sublime performers do all the work. www.birdlandjazz.com
