Sing for Hope: YOU can be the performer at this special day-long event on September 29 at 28 Liberty Plaza, which will temporarily house 10 artist-designed pianos for everyone who wants to tickle their ivories. There will also be some professional performances during the event, as well as the presentation of the group’s Arts for All Award to Broadway favorite Daphne Rubin-Vega. www.singforhope.com
Deep Blue Sea: Superstar choreographer Bill T. Jones’ newest work, being presented at the Park Avenue Armory from September 28-October 9, incorporates deconstructed texts from Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech and Herman Melville’s “Moby Dick,” and culminates with Jones and his dance company being joined onstage by approximately 90 community members. www.armoryonpark.org

Beyond Babel: A big hit during its brief initial run, this narrative urban dance riff on Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet” returns to the Gym at Judson for an extended stay on September 30. But hurry if you want to see co-creators and internationally renowned dancers Keone & Mari Madrid, as they will only perform during the first 16 performances. www.beyondbabelshow.com
Natalie Douglas: The undisputed queen of midtown supper club Birdland, this extraordinary vocalist (with a shelf full of awards to prove it) will make her sure-to-be triumphant return with two completely different shows. On October 1, she pays tribute to Nina Simone, Dolly Parton and Roberta Flack; on October 2, Sammy Davis Jr., Nat King Cole and Elvis Presley get the tribute treatment. www.birdlandjazz.com
Sol of El Barrio: Three-time Tony Award Robin DeJesus is just one of the many participants in “Sol of El Barrio: The AfroLatinidad Connection” a unique celebration of AfroLatinidad history in New York City. This special event, created, hosted and directed by Maria Torres, will take place on Sunday, October 3 at 5pm at Manhattan’s Theater 555. www.amasmusical.org
