If you needed any evidence that a good gimmick works, look no further than the Brooklyn Dumpling Shop's opening day on the corner of First Avenue and St Marks Place. People could be seen lining up around the corner for the shop's new automat-style dumpling dining.

Queens Night Market is up and running at Rockefeller Center's outdoor plaza. This year, the booths are quite sylish. There are seven vendors in all offering sweet and savory fare.

They include Twister Cakes which look like mini volcanos that are filled with ice cream.

Arepalicious is offering offering tasty Colombian-style arepas with various toppings. A 3-piece set is a good way to sample different flavors.

Shake Shack now has a spot just steps away from Bryant Park in a courtyard off West 41st Street and Sicth Avenue, if you looking to get some Shack burgers for new picnic performaces in the park.

Hortus NYC is adding music to the menu at its stylish spot in NoMad. Starting June 3, its will be hosting Thursday Night Jazz with the JinJoo Quartet from 7pm to 10pm. Enjoy cocktails and appetizers while sitting back to some live jazz.

Saks Fifth Avenue's flagship store in Midtown is paying tribute to Christian Dior with a stylish new facade and windows to match.

A live DJ Booth has popped in Times Square. The Lot Radio is booth spinning the tunes which had some folks doing a happy dance when we stopped by.

And finally, Reddi-wip is teaming up with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and RollerWaveNYC to give New Yorkers a joy-filled Saturday on May 22 complete with ice cream, roller skatings and some good tunes. The event is being held at the Lakeside Rink at Prospect Park (171 East Dr, Brooklyn) from 12pm to 4pm.
