Hole in the Wall is celebrating International Coffee Day on Friday, October 1st at 4 NYC locations (in FiDi at 15 Cliff Street, Murray Hill at 626 1st Avenue, Flatiron at Hotel Henri 37 W. 24th Street and in Williamsburg at 292 Bedford Avenue). Enjoy 50% off all coffees until 4pm. It pairs well with Hole in the Wall's Chili Scrambled Eggs, Pulled Pork Benedict or Brekkie Roll with double smoked bacon, hash brown and fried egg.

October 1st also marks World Sake Day. Brooklyn Kura and the American Sake Association are teaming up for a one-day tasting from 6:30pm to 9pm at Brooklyn Kura’s taproom at Industry City. It includes a sake tasting flight featuring Brooklyn Kura’s classic and more recent offerings (all of which are brewed on-site) and sake tasting games hosted by NYC’s foremost sake sommeliers. Snacks and light appetizers are being offered. Tickets are $25.

October is also National Seafood Month. To mark the event, Michelin-recognized Kōyō. which focuses on Kaiseki cuisine, is offering a multi-course meal based on hyper-seasonal ingredients. A 7-course tasting menu by Executive Chef/Owner Jay Zheng is being offered with an option to add supplemental dishes such Hussan Tartare (above).

The Metropolitan Opera showcased a live viewing from a giant screen in Times Square to mark the premiere of Terence Blanchard’s Fire Shut Up in My Bones. It's all part of September's Midnight Moment.

A giant steak now marks the spot for Baccall’s Family Steakhouse in the Theatre District. The Jewish steakhouse is offering several special cuts, including a Dry-Aged Tomahawk for 4. Latkes with apple sauce and Fried Kreplach (brisket and onion dumplings) are also on the menu.

Morocco, Kingdom of Taste has landed at Hudson Yards. The pop-up features Moroccan agriculture and seafood, as well as tastings and samples. It runs from 11am to 6p through September 29th.

Massive origami sculptures are on display in the Garment District. “Hacer: Transformations” features seven origami sculptures, including a turquoise coyote, magenta elephant and yellow dog. The sculptures are on display on Broadway between 36th and 39th Streets through November 23rd.

And Rudy’s Bar and Grill has emerged after a long pandemic slumber. The dive bar in Hell’s Kitchen dates back to 1933. It's well known for its mascot, a giant pink pig that stands outside the bar that is perfect for posing with.
