Neighborhood: DUMBO
Type of Place: Carousel

Description:

Fully encased in glass, Jane's Carousel has become a New York City landmark.  Located in Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO, Jane's Carousel is easily visible from the Manhattan Bridge.  The Jane, in this case, is Jane Walentas who lovingly restored the carousel which was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1922.  It originates from Youngstown, Ohio where it was installed at Idora Park.  Now, the carousel sits at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge.   The horses and chariots each restored to their original details with paint, beveled mirrors and faceted jewels.  The best thing is watching the children's faces as they take a ride on a true piece of Americana.

Jane's carousel is open 6 days a week
(Closed Tuesdays)

Tickets are $2 (Children under 3 ride for free)

Check the website for details.
