If you want to get an idea of what your friends and neighbors are thinking (and buying) head to the Amazon 4-Star store in SoHo. We took a look around and here’s what we found. Of course, there are plenty of gadgets including laptops, mobile phones, digital cameras, tablets, docking stations and more. There are combos, things that people tend to buy together, like the Philips Hue White Bulb and the Echo Dot, although for the life of me, I couldn’t see the connection. Kids are really into LEGO Mindstorms robots (humanoids and pets) if you want to check something off on your Christmas list. Other toys include Sequine Pets, like a glittery porcupine, and for actual pets, there are green Gumby dolls that squeak when you poke 'em in the belly. Books abound, including Bob Woodward’s “Fear.” Seems to be a lot of that going around these days, along with “Fashion Climbing” by Bill Cunningham and “Captain Underpants” for kids. KitchenAid mixers are popular. But did you know “Aqua Sky” is the color of choice these days, at least until shoppers move onto the "next" big thing.
