Loreto Italian Kitchen & Bar opens in Fort Greene

Loreto Italian Kitchen & Bar is a celebration of owner Marianna Shayan’s love for Italian food. The restaurant is located on the ground level of a luxury residential building in Fort Greene and just steps from Barclay’s Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Pietro Aletto is serving as Executive Chef. Aletto has worked alongside some of the city’s most prestigious chefs including Christina Tosi, Jonathan Benno, and Andrew Carmellini. Together, they developed a menu that featuring traditional Italian dishes with modern flair.
To start, guests may enjoy an assortment of antipasti including Buttuta di Manzo (steak tartare with capers, red onion, chives, and mustard) and Fritto Misto (fried calamari, shrimp, zucchini, and marinara sauce), as well as salads like the Gamberi with gem lettuce, prawns, artichoke, and rosemary dressing.
All of Loreto’s pastas are handmade fresh daily with imported Italian flour. Options include Linguine alle Vongole with garlic and breadcrumbs; Fettuccine al Ragu with beef, pecorino romano, and basil; and Cacio e Pepe.
Neapolitan-style pizza is also offered at Loreto. Each pie is baked in the Forza Forni oven in just 90 seconds. Guests can opt for the classic Margherita or go for the restaurant’s signature Loreto pizza, with burrata, shaved parmesan, and Prosciutto di Parma. To round out the meal, guests can also order mains like Filetto di Maiale (pork tenderloin, roasted peppers, and creamy polenta); Branzino al Forno (roasted branzino, grilled lemon, watercress, and herb salsa verde); and the Pollo al Forno (oven-roasted chicken, mixed mushrooms, and mashed potatoes), as well as vegetable-driven sides.
Aletto’s extensive pastry background also calls attention to the restaurant’s desserts, with options such as Cheesecake Pudding, a light no-bake cheesecake with fresh fruit puree, and a shard of hard meringue, and the Torta al Cioccolato, a chocolate hazelnut cake with chocolate ganache and salted caramel. Like Loreto’s food, the beverage program pays homage to tradition with an eye towards innovation.
Signature libations include the Lorigroni – Loreto’s take on the Negroni – with Nonino Merlot grappa, strawberry-infused sweet vermouth, and coffee-infused bitters.

The space designed by Asthetique delivers elegant glamour, featuring a large ceiling installation of hanging dried flowers, as well as rustic pottery with 16’-18’ trees illuminated with gentle lighting. Natural materials like wood and stone, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows that let in natural light reinforcing the indoor/outdoor vibe.
