Cititour Review:

Yo! Sushi is a high energy spot in Flatiron where the sushi arrives via conveyor belt.  Servers instruct diners, with a smile, on how to navigate the menu. The sushi is grabbed as domed plates pass by.  The color of plate dictates how much each dish costs. It's also worth watching the sticker on top of each clear dome which tells you when the plate expires. It's also family friendly. During our visit, we watched a little boy seated next to us, his eyes lighting up, as the colorful plates whizzed by. It's truly an adventure.

Here's what else we found:

First, pink and orange plates lean higher while blues and purples are cheaper with most dishes costing under eight bucks.

Second, if you want to order something from the menu, you'll need to ring your server. Look for a silver button at the base of the conveyor. Press it and the color of a bubble lamp changes signaling service is needed.

Third, be careful. While the plates are relatively cheap, you can rack up a hefty bill quickly as those color-coded plates accumulate. So, watch your wallet.

We tried a number of plates.  Among our favorites, Chicken Tsukune, skewars of chicken with a shiro miso glaze and shichimi; the Ebi Rill with fried shrimp, avocado, mayonaise and purple shisho yukari powder; Shishito peppers stuffed with cheddar cheese and deep-fried with tempura batter and panko; and Shrimp Yuzu Aburi made with poached shrimp, ponzu mayo, yuzu tobiki (a golden fish roe) and rocket cress. With more than 100 items on the menu, including desserts, you'll never run out of things to try. Beer and Sake is also available.

Yo! Sushi makes for a fun nite out with friendly service and an interesting selection of dishes that won't bust the budget. See more
