Cititour Review:

Go west young men (and women). I was quite suprised when I entered Westville in the West Village that I was the only person over 40 in the place (and feeling mighty old). All the people running it were in their early 20s. Ditto for the people eating at the crammed tables that line both sides of this sliver of a restaurant. It is so small that you'll have to take a tour of the kitchen to visit the restroom. I was drawn in by the sign outside for hot dogs with all the fixins. I wound up with two Hebrew Nationals ($2.50 ea), perfectly grilled, topped with sauerkraut, relish and mustard. But as I was waiting, and moving to make room for the waiters, I watched dish after dish emerge from the kitchen, one looking better than the other. Inch thick burgers served on Portuguese muffins with huge sides of fries ($9), a Newport steak sandwich with carmelized onions and horseradish mayo ($10), several omelet variations and a nice selection of baked pies that you might want to order with a scoop of Bassets ice cream. Westville is not the spot for a romantic dinner. There's lots of clanging of dishes and orders being blurted out from the kitchen. But it is a place that will hit the spot, especially if you're young or maybe just young at heart!
