Cititour Review:

Upper east side wine bar and restaurant, Uva, has a rustic décor with a Tuscan flare. The bar area is small with an exposed brick wall. The lighting is dim and romantic with crystal chandeliers casting a glow around the space. It attracts a neighborhood crowd that often hangs out at the bar, happily sipping wine until tables become available. The music is vibrant, trendy and can also be a bit loud. The dining area can also be crowded at times with the tables situated a bit too close together. However, the service is impeccable and the wine list expansive with more than 30 wines offered by the glass. There is also a lower level dining area that is quieter and seems better suited for conversation if you so prefer. Uva also has an outdoor patio garden that is perfect for spring and summer nights, while tables out front are often bustling and great for people watching. We grabbed a few glasses of exceptional wine, snacked on Bruschetta and a cheese platter of Parmigiano Reggiano, Percorino Toscano and Caciocavallo. The cheese board's portions were generous and accompanied with grapes. The kitchen stays open until 2 a.m. making Uva a great place for a late-night snack. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is a charming escape from the city. "Uva" means grape in Italian and this wine bar truly is a sweet and ripe neighborhood favorite.
