Cititour Review:

Bay Ridge, Brooklyn has its fair share of Middle Eastern restaurants. Tanoreen comes to mind with its whole baked fish that emerges from the oven nice and crispy, or the mouthwatering falafel sandwiches you'll find at King Falafel on Third Avenue.

Turqua Grill is is also gaining a reputation for its delicious Turkish treats. You'll want to pick from their selection of traditional appetizers. The babagonush and hummus are up there with the best of 'em, grape leaves are nicely stuffed with rice and herbs, and the grilled eggplant salad has a wonderful smoky flavor to it. But my favorite was the Muammara; a spicy mix of peppers, walnuts and garlic in a pomegranate sauce. All of the above go well with the scrumptious bread that arrives warm from the oven. It's light and airy. We went through two baskets and could have easily gone through a third, dipping it in the olive oil left behind from our dish of dried black olives.

You can purchase appetizers separately here, but the combination platter is definitely the better deal. Two people could easily fill up on the small platter for $7.95. Entrees are equally impressive in size and substance. Of the three dishes we tried, the lamb shish kebab ($12.95) was the winner hands down. Large cubes of lamb were perfectly grilled on the outside, pink and juicy on the inside, and melted in your mouth. The chicken kebab was also tender and nicely spiced. Each dish arrived with a healthy salad of mixed greens and red cabbage, a roasted jalapeno pepper for those daring enough to bite into it, and a buttery rice mixture. You'll also find Lamb chops, char-grilled shrimps and grilled salmon on the menu.

Be sure to save some room for dessert. The baklava ($5.95) is ultra sweet with its layers of pistachio, filo dough and honey syrup, and well worth every sticky bite.
