Tacos El Nopal is serving up some family-style Mexican dishes at this friendly spot in Brooklyn. Nopal, a Mexican cactus, is incorporated into several of the dishes being offered, including spicy pork and even a burger.
Dinner begins with guacamole served with housemade tortilla chips and beer in a frosty mug. Tacos come with a choice of fillings, including chicken, steak, pork, tongue and salted beef. One or two could easily make a meal. The burritos here are humongous stuffed with rice & beans and drizzled with a creamy sauce. Enchiladas come three to an order which is usually one variety. But, if you ask, chances are you will be able to get one of each. We tried ours with a superb mole sauce. Chile’s Rellenos made with roasted poblano peppers stuffed with cheese taste like they were made right on the spot.
Tacos El Nopal also offers salads, chimichangas, fajitas and more. From the grill comes marinated skirt steak, spicy pork chops and Mexican sausages. A Pozole, made with hominy and pork, is offered on weekends. It's definitely worth a visit!
