South Brooklyn Foundry is a fantastic spot with unique eats and a nice assortment of craft beers, wines and mocktails. The eclectic space, with natural wood elements and full bar, seems to match the menu with offerings like crispy fried chicken skins, turducken soup and crab cakes topped with remoulade and micro greens. Larger plates include perfectly prepared duck breast with a sour cherry sauce and sweet potato puree. It arrived with a colorful assortment of heirloom carrots in red, yellow and purple. Crispy fried chicken is served with a potent hot sauce, cracked wheat and something I've never seen before, popcorn shoots, which kinda resemble ramps. There are sandwiches, including a grilled cheese with merguez sausage, pepperjack and sweet cherry peppers, along with a Duck Club with house-made bacon. Both are served with a healthy portion of hand-cut fries. South Brooklyn Foundry also offers a nice assortment of salads, an 8-oz Foundry Burger, and a wild shrimp & Palacios chorizo roll. Desserts include Family Store cheesecake, a wonderful apple crisp, and L&B Spumoni. The restaurant is also serving brunch with a Chopped Benedict Bowl, buttermilk pancakes and a thick-sliced French toast sandwich with sesame puree and grape molasses. Good things are happening at South Brooklyn Foundry. It is definitely worth a try!
