A block away from Grand Central on East 43rd Street is a sliver of a shop specializing in one thing - sliders. It is literally about four or five feet wide and ten feet long at the most. Add in a grill, fryer and a couple of feet of counter space and your are looking at Simply Sliders. Just don't blink or you'll miss it.
There are seven different versions of sliders here, including three made with chicken. But it's the burgers that truly rule. There is a spiced beef slider with goat cheese called the Kefta, while gorgonzola is the cheese of choice for the Black and Blue. I went for the "Classic" made with angus beef, grilled onions, American cheese, turkey bacon, pickles and house dressing. All of it is neatly wrapped in a tight package. I loved the burger, but was not a huge fan of the sauce. But at $2.50 a pop who's complaining? The onion rings ($2), on the other hand, are among the best I've tasted. Made fresh daily they are crunchy on the outside with soft sweet onion on the inside. It's wonderful, greasy goodness.
The staff at Simply Sliders was also great and effecient, given such tight confines. It's a place worth sliding over to for a quick, simple meal.
