This old school Italian pastry shop in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn was established in 1918 by the Savarese family of Naples. In 1962, it was taken over by the Giura family, also from Naples, and to this date, Mario Giura, continues to turn out a remarkable assortment of Italian pastries and gelato. And while the neighborhood has changed over the years, the recipes have not, ranging from Cannolis stuffed with ricotta cream and garnished with a candy cherry to lobster tails (aka Sfogliatelle), Rum Baba, Tiramisu and much more. Custom cakes, including wedding cakes, are offered along with homemade gelato, ice cream, sherbert and ices in over 100 different flavors. Spumoni is a classic served here by combining 3 scoops; pistachio, chocolate and butter almond. Savarese is the perfect spot when you are craving something sweet. To see more click here
