Cititour Review:

Getting your daily coffee fix has never been so easy, with coffee chains on every corner and even the most inexpensive restaurants offering all sorts of coffee drinks. However, if you're looking for a place with excellent coffee, try this wholesale coffee store in downtown Manhattan.

Porto Rico has slowly expanded over its three generations of family ownership from its original location on Bleecker street to include four other locations: one at St. Marks, one in Soho, one at Essex Market and one on Grand Street. No matter which of the five you choose, you'll be knocked off your feet with the overpowering aroma of freshly roasted beans emanating from the burlap sacks around the shop.

Ask the well-informed staff for advice as you peruse: with so many varieties to choose from, even coffee connoisseurs may not know where to start! Lovers of dark roasts will love the French Java, at $8.99/lb. It's extremely rich and flavorful without being burned, like some coffee chain coffee. For those who like a lighter roast, try the Columbian Supremo, also at $8.99/lb. It's extremely flavorful without being overpowering. Any bean you choose can be ground for you on the premises upon request.

The store also sells a variety of teas as well as some standard coffee beverages: no frappuccinos here—the coffee is too good.
