Cititour Review:

It's hard to imagine how chef Neil Ganic maneuvers in what is literally a two-by-four kitchen that shares a common stairwell to the basement with a flower shop next door (The flower shop is also worth visiting.). But he does it with flourish and a smile. The restaurant itself is about the size of a one-car garage seating up to 20 people at a time. There are loaves of crisp French bread in the window and a nice selection of fresh fish on display at the counter. And when it comes to fish, Ganic, does not disappoint. We devoured a bowl of crab chowder; large chunks of lump crab floating in a hearty corn chowder. A creamy fish chowder, which wasn't fishy at all, had us wanting to lick the bowl. Deep fried oysters were plump and juicy accompanied by hand cut french fries. A salmon burger that barely touched the grill was topped with a punchy wasabi sauce. A grilled steak was smothered with carmelized onions, mashed and a healthy portion of green beans, although the steak itself was a bit tough. All in all, Petite Crevette is big on flavor despite its small size and definately worth a trip to Carroll Gardens in Brooklyn. You'll find it off Union Street on Hicks.
