Cititour Review:

Beneath a canopy of colorful umbrellas and crammed into a narrow Midtown courtyard is Penn Plates, one of the many outdoor food courts cropping up across the city during the Summer months.  This one cuts across 33rd to 34th Street between 7th and 8th Avenue (closer to Seventh) and in close proximity to Macy's, Madison Square Garden and Penn Station.  The location allows for a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and some tasty bites.

There are Black Iron burgers, gourmet pizzas from Roberta's and several taco stands, including Frida's Favorites, where we filled up on steak tacos at 4 bucks a pop.  We were also tempted by the guy hawking German sausages at Wartoffel which he touted as, "Better than Nathan's." There's also a nice assortment of craft beers available. For dessert, try some Italian gelato or an ice cream sandwich from Melt.

Penn Plates is open daily 11am to 9pm from early June through the Fall and is definitely worth seeking out.  For more information on vendors click here
