Cititour Review:

If you like your meal to have a bit of heat, then Pam Real Thai Food in Hell's Kitchen is the place to be. A dish of barbecued pork ($5.95) was accompanied by a chili sauce that was so hot that I swear my lower lip went numb. But not all the dishes are spicy hot at Pam's, known for its fresh ingredients and low prices. I found delight in a simple bowl of vegetable soup ($3.75) with glass noodles. The mix of broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers and spinach maintained its crispness in a clear broth that enhanced their flavor. Meat lovers will enjoy the specialty of the house, an oxtail soup that can also serve as a meal. There are so many entrees to choose at Pam's that I got kinda lost in the menu. There are whole fish, deep fried (with their heads still attached) and topped with fresh cilantro, lime leaves and a special chili sauce. Chili peppers pour on the heat to a dish of shrimps sautéed with ginger, mushrooms and onions while double cooked crispy pork gets its added flavor from fresh basil. You'll also find traditional pad thai and fried rice made with jasmine rice. I finally settled on a dish of crispy duck ($9.50) smothered in sautéed onions that kept their crunch, fresh pineapple and topped with hot chilis, cilantro and a touch of lime juice. The combination works magic in your mouth. And you have chef Pam Panyasiri to thank. She seeks out the ingredients and works the woks in the kitchen. Pam Real Thai Food is the real deal!
