Cititour Review:

You might say Morton's is a sly fox, moving directly across from a major construction zone.  But this no ordinary construction site.  It is where the Freedom Tower is already standing tall as work continues on neighboring buildings.  The area has also attracted a new W Hotel, BLT Bar & Grill and a Bill's Burger Bar.

Inside, black floors and tabletops are accompanied by black-and-white photos of Morton's most famous customers lining the walls. The space is classy but not pretenious, although I would dissuade people from coming in worn jeans and shorts, which I noticed some doing during our visit.  Still, they were all greeted with a smile.

I decided to take a seat in the bar area, as opposed to the formal dining room.  My waitress was as sweet as could be and very helpful with the menu.  It is easy to break the bank at Morton's where the steaks, including center-cut filet mignon, porterhouse and a prime New York Strip, range in price from $40 to $60.   Add in a baked lobster tail and you're talking big bucks.  But there are more affordable options available especially if you take advantage of the bar menu where you can find things like mini crab cake BLTs, prime cheeseburgers, steak tacos and a jumbo shrimp cocktail.

I opted for a chilled seafood platter for one.  The seafood was excellent, although the plate was a little skimpy.  It included one oyster, one shrimp, a quarter of an Alkaskan King Crab leg halved and bits of lobster in an oversized lettuce leaf for $25.  Needless to say it was gone in a flash, but I still managed to enjoy it with a nice cold beer.  The Petite Filet Mignon sandwiches, on the other hand, were loaded with slices of wonderful beef that was melt-in-your-mouth tender served with a tangy mustard mayonaise.

You can cap off the meal with a slice key lime pie, chocolate souffle for two or one of Morton's famous ice cream sundaes.   Sweet.
