Landmarc heads uptown with new digs at the Time Warner Center. Considered a coup by many insiders, Landmarc managed to snag the last available restaurant space, joining the most distinguished group of chefs and restaurateurs, including Thomas Keller, Gray Kunz and Michael Lomonaco. Landmarc is promising to stay true to its roots with delicious, straight forward bistro food and an award-winning wine list, all at reasonable prices. Walk-ins welcome. Reservations available for parties of 6 or more.

Cititour Review:

A friend of mine works at Time Warner Center, and with some catching up to do, we decided to meet for dinner at Landmarc, the midtown version of the stylish Tribeca spot known for its bistro style fare. The space is quite wonderful. The first thing you notice are these iron rods covering the ceiling and huge windows overlooking the city. I'd suggest the first stop be at the bar made of thick wood, where you can sip on a perfectly prepared dry martini as I did and nibble on some appetizers. The foie gras terrine ($13) and smoked mozzarella and ricotta fritters ($9) drew raves. But dinner was somewhat hit or miss. It began with some salmon tartare ($10) that was a tad salty, and shrimp risotto ($15), while nicely flavored, was undercooked and gummy. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his Nicoise salad ($18) with seared tuna in an egg and anchovy red wine vinaigrette. A rib eye steak ($34) arrived perfectly rare and tender, buy could have used a bit more char. The fries beneath it were soggy and almost inedible. Message to the chef, "Please put fries on the side!" Landmarc is the kind of place that with a little time should be able to fix most of these kinks. It's got two things going for it; a great space and affordable prices. A children's menu, a rarity in this neck of the woods, also makes it a great choice for families with kids in tow. We saw a few of those kids delighting on pink cotton candy and mini ice cream cones.
