Cititour Review:

Friend of a Farmer in Gramercy lives up to the ideal imagery it's name evokes. A wholesome, homey aura blankets the bi-level restaurant, lending the warmth and welcome of home.

Nestle into your wooden table amongst baskets of whole potatoes and parcels of carrots that are surely plucked from storybooks. A deep fireplace and paisley wallpaper are the final touches to remove you from the reality of noisy city streets and into a cabin in the countryside.

Friend of a farmer shares the beauty of the simple life through its rustic fare that is reliable and most notably, feels like real food. Enjoy the comforts of the chicken pot pie; juicy chicken and steaming hot vegetables covered in a flaky pastry crust. Play safe and satisfyingly with the meatloaf or shepherds pie, or indulge in the creative side of the menu with mashed squash toast with a healthy spoonful of fresh ricotta on top, or the Terry Alan Chicken coated in cheddar cheese and stuffed with green apples for a pleasant salty-sweet marriage. All tables are complete with a pan of golden brown cornbread heaped with chunky apple butter.

This hearty kitchen is not without its sweet spot. Select from an array of cocktails, with rustic names like the Country Spiced Red Apples and Peach Farm Bellitini. Savor the flavor of a scrumptious slice of Yummy, Just Baked Banana Bread that is as soft and fresh as its title suggests. A scoop of vanilla ice cream is a must.

Friend of a Farmer is a reliable neighborhood spot offering all of the comfort and simple delight of a familiar friend in a big city. Indulge in a little greenery of your own in Gramercy, there are no special keys necessary to unlock this country gem!
