This isn't your ordinary pizza shop. Here pizza is served Roman style with a rectangular pie called a Palam (pronounced pah-lam). And unlike slices arriving piping hot, these pies are meant to be served at room temperature. The counter is a sight to behold with eight to ten pies lined up side-by-side in bright vibrant colors, with vibrant flavors to match. Combinations include Arrabbiata with tomato, mozzarella and hot chili peppers, the Palate with potato, onion and a sprinkle of black papper, and the Capricciosa with Italian ham, artichoke and mushrooms. Or, go green with the Filetto topped with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and fresh arugula. I sampled the Siciliana with thin slices of eggplant, mozzarella, tomato sauce and parmesan which makes for a wonderful light meal. It also had a crunchy, thin crust. Prices can be a bit steep with some slices priced upwards of $4 and a full palam (four feet) close to forty dollars. Farinelli also served calzones and panini sandwiches. - Thomas Rafael
