A gleaming silver Airstream trailer is the first thing that catches your eye as you enter El Luchador near the South Street Seaport. Above it, stings of lights and Mexican streamers give the outdoor space a festive feel, along with mariachi music. Inside, what was an old garage, is the actual taqueria serving up tacos, burritos and quesadillas. The tacos are a good deal at just under four bucks apiece and come with your choice of chicken, beef, pork or fish. A vegetarian option is also available. We tried the "carnitas" made with slow roasted pork, onion and avacado, and the "carne asada" with grilled skirt steak and cotija cheese and were not disappointed. Guacamole and Mexican grilled corn are also available along with beer and traditional sodas in flavors like pineapple, grapefruit and tamarind. El Luchador is mucho fun and tasty. - Thomas Rafael
