Details:

City Grit is a supper club held in an old Nolita school house on Prince Street. Started by Food & Wine’s star chef Sarah Simmons and partner Jeremy Kittredge, these food sessions are designed to showcase emerging chefs in New York City’s booming food scene. One week it may be Asian barbecue, while on another, gluten free baking or maybe a shrimp boil. They also offer rare wines from a small group of select importers to compliment each menu. Guest chefs include names like David Santos, formerly of Hotel Griffou, Top Chef Ty-Lör, Ron Eyester aka “The Angry Chef,” and chef John Currence of City Grocery. This is not the place if you are searching for a romantic meal. Dinner is served communal style with up to 70 guests per seating. City Grit also features the works of Brooklyn-based furniture artisans. So, let’s say you like the chair you’re sitting on, feel free to buy it at the end of your meal and take it home with you. To sign up for an event you can visit the City Grit website, or become a member and get first dibs on the most popular events. Prices range from $35 for a French macaron class (bag of macarons included) to around $95 for a complete four-course meal. - Thomas Rafael
