Cititour Review:

You know Brooklyn is hot when your Manhattanite friends are moving here. I found myself meeting up with one such friend on a sleepy strip of 4th Avenue on the border of Park Slope that is fast-becoming gentrified. There are buildings popping up all around and the sounds of jackhammers can be heard everywhere. It was here that we entered a friendly pub called Cherry Tree (bet. Bergen St & St Marks Ave). It's right next door to another interesting cafe, called Mule, and across the street from the 4th Avenue Pub. There's another nice Australian spot also worth visiting a few blocks away called Sheep Station. Cherry Tree has the feel of an old world bar with lots of exposed brick and an arched window overlooking a courtyard with little brick nooks for chatting and who knows what else. There's a brick oven out back under a canopy serving up yummy thin crust pies. They also serve up a "Big Ass Stella" at the bar ($25) that could easily satisfy a group of beer guzzling youth. It comes with a free margherita pie. We also hear they have a pig roast once a month. And if you're lucky enough (or maybe not so lucky) you'll find youself on their "Top 10 drinkers" list after a few too many. The Cherry Tree is worth picking if you suddenly find yourself in the heart of Brooklyn!
