There's nothing old about this fresh and new downtown eatery. Tucked away in a quiet corner of SoHo, the Antique Garage offers more than pleasure for the palate. The tapas menu is simple but finely complimented by an intimate selection of wines. But the atmosphere is the real pièce de ré·sis·tance. Never have chandeliers and dusty old oil paintings been so hip! Your grandmother's attic wouldn't have been quite so dreary if she had a dee-jay mixing the background music for übershiek downtowners sipping cappucinos on hundred-year-old, velvet upholstered loveseats. Or, try the balcony for an intimate meal for two with a birdseye view of the banquet length oak table, perfect for parties of a dozen or so. Bring friends to share helpings of light and creamy humus, plates of spicy spanish olives, or pick at the meat and cheese platter. Be sure to order something from the daily specials menu. The bottom line, don't miss an evening tinkering in this garage.
